Euro-Atlantic Integration is about people: it is about building bridges, partnerships and co-operation to achieve lasting peace and security in Europe and beyond. It is about building confidence and trust. Thus, it is about meeting and getting to know one another. Travelling, exploring new places, learning about different cultures, getting together and creating networks: all tempting, inspiring and creative activities. And they have become ‘fast and furious’ and easily accessible for many of us. However, even if beaming was possible it would remain impossible to visit every place we would like to SEE. And SEE is the key: let’s explore South Eastern Europe, let’s see it with your eyes.

How?

The NATO Photo Competition connects people via different platforms to meet, discuss and – above all – admire each other’s artwork. The rules are simple: Take your camera and try to capture the atmosphere in your city, town or in the countryside: panoramas, portraits, funny situations, action or contrasts – what counts is your point of view.

Each entry has to meet the following requirements:

• A digital photograph taken in 2009 in South Eastern Europe. Photography is as much about selecting and editing pictures as it is about happy swapping: you have to choose your favourite, favourite photograph - the one and only!

• The photograph must be submitted via the entry form in either jpg or tiff format. Suggested resolutions: 4 megapixel and above.

Who?

You are 18 to 27 years old and live in South Eastern Europe? This is for you! Check out the detailed terms and conditions.

When?

The deadline for applications is 20 December 2009, 12:00 noon Brussels time. Late entries cannot be accepted. A jury will select winning pictures. Final results will be published on enato.org and all winners will be contacted via e-mail. Throughout the competition, photographs will be shared on enato.org. As of 2010, the pictures will travel the region as an exhibition. Regular updates on when and where will be available here.

And what is there to win?

In July 2010, the top 25 will be invited on a fully-sponsored trip to discover Europe’s ‘capital’, get to know NATO HQ, and meet many fellow creative and enthusiastic students and young professionals. And of course to show your pictures in a travelling exhibition and on the internet.
